The Department of Communication scholarship application can be completed by all undergraduate Communication majors. Some Communication scholarships, including graduate scholarships, are awarded by a nomination process only and do not require an application. Please visit the

- The Department of Communication section of this online application qualifies students only for the Scholarly Achievement Scholarship Award, the Political Communication Heritage Award, the Ralph E. Cooley Memorial Scholarship, the Michael W. Kramer Undergraduate Scholarship, and the Roger Babich Award, if applicable. Students MUST be current juniors to apply for scholarships. Applicants must have completed 60 hours by the end of the Fall 2024 semester to apply and 15 hours of communication classes.

- The application requires one letter of recommendation from an OU Communications faculty member. Please provide the name and email address of your reference below and click "Save and Keep Editing" or "Finish and Submit" to generate an email to your recommender.You can check the status of your recommendation by clicking on the “References” tab at the top of the page.
Your reference will be automatically contacted via email to submit an electronic recommendation on your behalf. The deadline for your reference to submit the letter of recommendation is February 1, 2025. If your recommender does not receive the email, contact scholarships@ou.edu. It is your responsibility to ensure that your recommender receives the email request and submits his/her recommendation prior to the deadline. - Letter of Recommendation Waiver
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 gives students the right to inspect letters of recommendation written on their behalf for an application for financial assistance. Students may waive this right and keep letters of recommendation confidential. This waiver is voluntary and is not a condition of any award. Scholarship committees may place higher value on letters of recommendation that are submitted confidentially. - Show 2 more
