Department of Political Science Scholarship Application

The Department of Political Science offers a selection of scholarships that include merit-based and financial-need based awards. They are available to full-time, regularly-enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who are current political science students and working toward a degree in the department. Please complete the Department of Political Science Scholarship Application to be considered eligible for general scholarships from the Department of Political Science. Students must have a minimum 3.0 Overall GPA to be considered for scholarship awards.

In order to be eligible for some Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences scholarships, students must be enrolled full-time. The College of Arts and Sciences classifies full-time enrollment as…

  • Undergraduate students enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Graduate students enrolled in 9 credit hours, or 5 credit hours and have a .5 appointment as a GA or TA.

The Mike Youngwirth Public Administration Endowed Scholarship is for full-time students in the Political Science Department that are juniors or seniors, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and are a member of at least one recognized student organization.   12. The Teresa Ramirez and Richard W. Massa Endowed Scholarship is for full-time students in the department who are U.S. Citizens. Students must be a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Political Science with at least a 2.25 GPA, and demonstrated financial need. Priority will be given to minority, female, or non-traditional students who are the first generation in their families to attend college.   15. Letter of Recommendation Waiver

    The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 gives students the right to inspect letters of recommendation written on their behalf for an application for financial assistance. Students may waive this right and keep letters of recommendation confidential. This waiver is voluntary and is not a condition of any award. Scholarship committees may place higher value on letters of recommendation that are submitted confidentially.
