School of Library and Information Studies Scholarship Application
The School of Library and Information Studies offers a selection of scholarships that include merit-based and financial-need based awards. They are available to full-time, regularly-enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who are current LIS students and working toward a degree in the department. Please complete the School of Library and Information Studies Scholarship Application to be considered eligible for general scholarships from the School of Library and Information Studies.
In order to be eligible for some Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences scholarships, students must be enrolled full-time. The College of Arts and Sciences classifies full-time enrollment as…
- Undergraduate students enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
- Graduate students enrolled in 9 credit hours, or 5 credit hours and have a .5 appointment as a GA or TA.

- The SLIS program offers a scholarship called the SLIS 75th Anniversary Scholarship, which is for MLIS students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who complete a one-paragraph essay on the following topic: “Explain your commitment to public service.” If you wish to be considered for this scholarship, please complete the essay below.
- The SLIS program offers a scholarship called the Frances Laverne Carroll LIS Career Scholarship, which is for full-time MLIS students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who complete an essay on the following topic: “Explain your career interest in one of the following areas: Medical librarianship, theological librarianship, publishing, special collections.” This scholarship gives preference for students submitting a specific plan in their essay for completing a structured learning experience (internship) in one of the above areas. - The SLIS program offers a scholarship called the Ruth Brown Memorial Scholarship presented by the Bartlesville Women's Network, which is for MLIS students who are from Nowata, Osage or Washington Counties in Oklahoma. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6-credit hours and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In addition to meeting those requirements students must include a 500 word statement of why they wish to be a librarian-please complete the essay below.
