School of Meteorology Scholarship Application

Meteorology majors only. Meteorology students who complete this application will be considered for all meteorology scholarships for which they meet the requirements, including but not limited to the following opportunities:

  • Thomas Julian Lockhart Scholarship

    >Must be in junior year of the meteorology program (i.e., enrolled in METR 3113, METR 3213 or higher)
    >Must demonstrate strong abilities and interests in meteorological instrumentation and observing systems
  • Kelvin and Lisa Droegemeier Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Meteorology
    >Meteorology major enrolled full-time
    >Minimum 45 hours completed
    >Minimum 3.5 GPA in METR courses
    >Minimum 3.5 GPA on combined College requirements: PHYS 2514, PHYS 2524, MATH 1914, MATH 2924, MATH 2934, CHEM 1315, and CS 1313 or METR 1313
  • Rex Inman Scholarship

    >Meteorology major enrolled full-time
    >Make a significant contribution to the Oklahoma Weather Lab (OWL), including leadership, forecast skills, and overall participation.
  • Eric Nguyen Memorial Scholarship
    >Meteorology major enrolled full-time
    >Applicant must be directly involved in developing and maintaining weather displays and visualizations as part of the HOOT Development Lab.
  • Dr. Edwin & Lottie Kessler Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Meteorology

    >At least at sophomore level

  6. The OU School of Meteorology offers scholarships for students who are active participants in the Oklahoma Weather Lab. If you are a participant in the Oklahoma Weather Lab, please write an essay describing your participation, including leadership, forecast skills and overall participation.
  7. If you are a graduate student, is your research in the area of climate science?
  8. Compose a statement on how your education has been and will be financed. Please explain the importance of a scholarship to your financial needs related to your undergraduate or graduate work and your career goals. Address any special circumstances as to why a scholarship might be helpful to you. (Please answer in 500 words or less.)
