There are Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability scholarship opportunities outside of the ones listed on this application and ALL Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability students will be considered for the other scholarship opportunities based on academics, classification, etc. The scholarships listed on this application require specific criteria to be eligible.

In order to be eligible for some need-based scholarships, eligible students must complete and submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

In order to be eligible for some scholarships, students must be enrolled full-time. The University of Oklahoma classifies full-time enrollment as…

  • Undergraduate students enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester
  • Graduate students enrolled in 9 credit hours, or 5 credit hours and have a .5 appointment as a GA or TA.

  • Please note, the opportunities listed below do not represent an exclusive list of all funding available from DGES, just those funds managed in the form of scholarships. The department also has awards for teaching, travel, publication as well as outstanding capstone presentation. These awards are managed by a nomination process within the faculty.

In particular, describe any activities related to geography, geography education, or environmental stewardship, including involvement in recycling or in departmental outreach events.
